Background of the Study

Cloud-based Accounting Information Systems (AIS) offer numerous advantages, including accessibility, cost-effectiveness, and scalability. However, the adoption of cloud-based AIS in public institutions presents unique challenges, such as data security concerns, lack of technical expertise, and resistance to change. This study will examine the specific challenges faced by public institutions in adopting cloud-based AIS.

Statement of the Problem

While cloud-based AIS can revolutionize financial management in public institutions, many face significant barriers in adopting these systems. Issues such as data privacy, limited infrastructure, and lack of staff training hinder effective implementation and utilization.

Aim and Objectives of the Study

Aim: To assess the challenges faced by public institutions in adopting cloud-based AIS.
Objectives:

  1. To evaluate the readiness of public institutions for adopting cloud-based AIS.

  2. To identify the barriers and challenges in the implementation of cloud-based AIS in public institutions.

  3. To suggest solutions for overcoming these challenges.

Research Questions

  1. What are the current barriers to the adoption of cloud-based AIS in public institutions?

  2. How do data security concerns affect the implementation of cloud-based AIS in public institutions?

  3. What strategies can public institutions adopt to overcome the challenges of cloud-based AIS adoption?

Research Hypothesis

  1. H₀: There are no significant barriers to the adoption of cloud-based AIS in public institutions.

  2. H₀: Data security concerns do not significantly affect the adoption of cloud-based AIS in public institutions.

Significance of the Study

The findings will provide valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities of implementing cloud-based AIS in public institutions. This can help policymakers and administrators develop strategies to address these challenges and optimize the benefits of cloud-based systems.

Scope and Limitation of the Study

The study will focus on public institutions that have either implemented or are in the process of adopting cloud-based AIS. Limitations may include access to data on specific barriers faced by these institutions.
